Nebraska Job’s Daughters have spent the year finding their courage, and another way to empower that courageous spirit is sharing your amazing artistic and crafting talents by entering the Arts and Crafts Competition this year! This is open to all Daughters and Jobie-2-Bees. We want to encourage each of you to submit at least one piece for the competition. Bethel Guardians and Council Members, please encourage your daughters to participate. The Arts & Crafts Competition has something for everyone. You don’t have to be present at Grand Session in order to compete, so it’s a fun way to participate. This year we will continue awarding ribbons to the winning pieces after judging is complete. You and all attendees will get to view the top three winners while all pieces are still on display. More details to come about check-in, viewing, and pickup times at Grand Bethel.
PREPARE ENTRIES:
Entry forms can be completed on-line, scanned, or mailed. Feel free to enter more than one project/item; however, you may only enter one item per category/class. Read carefully the category descriptions so that you choose the correct category/class in which to enter your project(s). Age (determined by age the first day of Grand session) divisions are:
● Jobie-2-Bee
● Beginner 10-12
● Intermediate 12-16
● Senior 17-19
Please make sure that you designate one adult as the contact person for all entries coming from your Bethel. The committee knows you will build or create amazing things and we can’t wait to see your projects! All entries MUST be submitted by May 1, 2026.
If you have any questions, please contact your Arts & Crafts Chair Shannon Roberts.
Participation in Ritual competition has many benefits to Job’s Daughters, including improving presentation skills, developing confidence, and obtaining experience before an audience. We encourage all Members to take advantage of the many opportunities to participate in the Ritual Competitions. Please follow ALL instructions in this packet. If you have questions about any part of this information, please contact a member of the Ritual Competition Committee for clarification.
Ritual competitions are open to all Nebraska Job’s Daughters who are registered for Grand Session. Registration for the all competitions will be online. Please contact the Ritual Committee if you require another way to register. All registrations must be submitted on or before the deadline at the top of this page. This information is needed to assist the Committee in arranging for judges, facilities and scheduling of competitions.
There is no restriction on the number of Members from each Bethel that may compete in an individual category. (i.e. a Bethel may have two Members competing in Chaplain, First Messenger, etc.) A Member may compete in any/all team competitions and ONE individual competition from each of the competition lists found in the MEMBER INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS section of this packet.
Ritual Competition will not conflict with performing arts competitions this year. Competition scheduling will attempt to account for practices for Grand Bethel Officers and Representatives, and for state officer selection process activities, such as luncheons, for Spirit Ambassadors, Daughter H.I.K.E. Coordinators and the candidates for these positions.
Please note any potential conflicts a competitor may have by indicating their other activities:
-
GBO – Grand Bethel Officer
-
GBR – Grand Bethel Representative
-
GBP – Grand Bethel Page
-
GBHQD – Grand Bethel Honored Queen Draw
-
MNJD – Miss Nebraska Job’s Daughter or Candidate
-
SPA – Spirit Ambassador or Candidate
-
HIKE – Coordinators or Applicants
Restrictions for State Officers
Current Miss Nebraska Job’s Daughter and MNJD contestants: You may compete in team Ritual competitions but not individual Ritual competitions due to scheduling conflicts. Most pageant events will take place on Wednesday.
There is no restrictions for Grand Bethel Officers or Grand Bethel Representatives. However, please note that holding a Grand Bethel Office is your top priority and all Grand Bethel parts need to be memorized before considering participating in ritual competitions!
Dropping Competitions
We encourage Members to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible. Out of respect for the time of our volunteer judges, every contestant is expected to be fully prepared to compete when they arrive at Grand Session. Councils and Members share in this responsibility equally in order to ensure that Members are prepared for their competitions. Please stress with the Members the importance of this commitment and notify the committee of any dropped competitions by June 1.
If emergency circumstances require changes after you have submitted your registration, please notify us as soon as possible so we can make appropriate changes. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Grand Bethel Ritual Committee Chairs:
General Instructions for ALL Competitions
-
All competitions will be held in-person at Grand Session.
-
If unavoidable extenuating circumstances prevent in-person attendance by a competitor, please contact the Ritual Committee Co-Chairs to request special accommodation. Accommodation requests will be considered but are NOT guaranteed.
-
Competitors must be registered to attend Grand Session in order to participate.
-
Competitors will have the opportunity to look at the competition room before they begin.
-
Enter the competition room in an orderly fashion and wait inside the competition door until the Verbatim Judge says “You may begin” and then begin your Ceremony or go to your station in an orderly manner of your choice.
-
Any Member that receives a zero on their verbatim score will NOT place in their competition.
JDI Knowledge Test
The JDI Knowledge Test gives you an opportunity to learn the fine points of the Ritual and be recognized for that knowledge. Please be sure to note the age of each Member at the time of Grand on the registration form, so that they may be placed in the proper group - Juniors, Intermediates or Seniors - based on years of membership in Job's Daughters.
All test questions will be taken from the Ritual, with a variety of true/false, multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank type questions. Good study resources would include the Nebraska Knowledge Course, as well as just reading the Ritual itself! Information on how to obtain the Knowledge Course is included below for your information.
Resources:
-
Read your Ritual
-
NEBRASKA KNOWLEDGE COURSE
Discover all the intricate details of the Job’s Daughters Ritual with the Nebraska
Knowledge Course. Take the course as an individual or as a Bethel. Click here to
take the test online. Successful completion of the Course will not only help you
prepare for the written test but will also allow you to earn a Nebraska Knowledge
Course Charm.
Mary Gammell Bylaw Test
This is the test for your Bethel to show how well you know the Constitution, Bylaws, Standard of Operations, and Manual of Rules and Regulations. All Bethel Members are eligible to take the test, but there must be a minimum of two Members to complete the test to win the trophy.
SESSION INFORMATION
Both tests will be given on Wednesday at Grand Session. Members may come at any time during that period, which should allow the opportunity to take part in competitions and practices. There is NO limit to the number of Members that may be entered by each Bethel. If you need specific accommodations, please note them on your registration in the comments section.
Awards will be given for first, second, and third in each years of membership group. Bethels who have 100% participation of Members registered for Grand Session will also be recognized.
Exciting update! This year’s Bethel centerpiece competition will feature a presentation display board instead of a traditional centerpiece. Your board should showcase how you would promote Job’s Daughters to others in your community.
After Grand Session, your display board can continue to make an impact—either reused by your Bethel or
shared with the incoming Grand Family for community events and other Masonic activities. Designed to
be easy to transport and quick to set up, these boards are a fun and effective way to promote and share
Job’s Daughters. We hope every Bethel gets on board!
